- Sheryl Crow - It Don't Hurt. Live. 1999. This particular performance has the attitude & passion I always thought this song was supposed to have. Nice spoken intro by Sheryl and a really high-powered ending.
(Watch as she tosses her guitar pick away at the end of the song.)
Lead guitar by Peter Stroud. Amazing intensity on drums by Jim Bogios. Great supporting vocals & bass guitar by the very cool Tim Smith. Keyboards by Mike Rowe. Lorenza Ponce on violin. Matt Brubeck on cello.

• Sheryl Crow - "It Don'...
Lyrics:
It don't hurt like it did
I can sing my song again
It don't hurt like it did
I can sing my song again.
Scraped the paper off the wall
I put down carpet in the hall
I left no trace of you at all
And I can sing my song again.
I don't dream 'cuz I don't sleep
The curtain's tied up like a bat (sic)
The sun comes up
But I don't see
Curtain's tied up like a bat.
The electric man looks good today
Maybe not, well I'm trying hard
Trying hard to feel that way
The electric man's a good place to start.
I took your paintings off the wall
That one of me that you called "doll"
I added on 'cuz the house was feeling small
I can sing my song again.
I don't think of you no more
Except for everyday or two
I don't think of you no more
Except for in between the sun and moon.
Packed up and moved out after all
I bulldozed the house and watched it fall
That blessed sight I still recall
I can sing my song again
I can sing my song again
It don't hurt like it did
It hurts worse
Who do I kid?
.
I'll be listening to this for catharsis all Easter weekend '22. Today is the day i changed the locks and packed all his shit in a box. Yesterday, Good Friday, i finally allowed myself to face up to facts, ive allowed myself to be strung along for over a year. Thanks, Sheryl, for letting me tap into energizing anger. I guess that's better than anguish. Until it changes back again.
Fantastic live performance from the entire band! Fantastic album. Her best hands down ❤ I love the passion of this set.
I listen to the globe sessions every time my heart is broken
Precious Angel Sheryl Suzanne Crow ,i Say You Look Great With Your Haircut And This Great Performance With Your Talented Singing 🎤 Of One Of Your🎼Great Songs And Playing As Your A Great Guitarist And Playing The Harmonica Love❤Sheryl,Denis🧸♥️
I think this is maybe one of her best songs. Great version.
Yes, you are right on.
Think so too..
Globe session is one of the last album (cd) that I would listen from the beginning to the end.
1:37 - when she sings "I left no trace of you at all" - I still get goosebumps hearing that delivery.
The queen of rock and roll
Wow, what a voice, what a musician...never get tired of hearing and watching her energy....
Unusual chord sequence gives the song urgency.
Yeah, it’s great, innit? I came here to find out what the weird chords are. Open tuning! Makes them easier to achieve. Unfortunately her guitar isn’t mixed loud enough here, but there’s a solo version from two years ago on her own channel that leaves no doubt.
That girl can rock. Amazing song, fantastic version.
"Sessions at West 54th Street" from the summer of 1999, on PBS (public broadcasting system). I agree about this version... I thought - Finally! - a performance of this song that really expresses the anguish and anger of getting over the end of a relationship.
I have a few others songs from this concert and I'll look thru them to see of they're worth posting. This one really stood out.
What a Rock Star 🌟
20 years later what Sheryl says still rings true. Great break up song. That's for sharing! Peace!
This song actually helped me get through a difficult passage in a relationship. Way to go, Sheryl.
She’s my idol.
All her songs will always be revelent, she's a musical genius🤗! She deserved every award she won because every song on this masterpiece was revelent to so many.
This is my kind of live performance -
feel the music...tear up the instruments...
Just discovered this song today 14/04/21. I love discovering hidden gems from artists I already know of and be like how did I not hear that before. Anyway, what an amazing song. The drum beat, the sweet acoustic sound, the electric guitar tone, the violin and harmonica. That’s raw music right there. Awesome talent Sheryl and crew!
You got to love Sheryl she's class absolute class rock on Sheryl Crow we all love you in England ROCK ON BABE. great song as well by the way.
She is so masterful. I bought Globe Sessions when it came out and played it straight through because it was packed with gems like this. Those vocals are unreal. That writing and playing is surreal. Top shelf and worth every award.
This! Globe Sessions rock big time. No fillers.
amazing...bought the 'globe sessions' cd 2nd hand in a thrift store yesterday for about 1 dollar. This song ranks as my current favourite Sheryl Crow song I've never heard before...
This is a banger.
Oh boy I played this song over and over. Got me through it
A great intro to a great song .
Not only best rendition of this song ever, but best live recording of Crow's rock side. Ever.
Floored. What talent.
Man, is she good!! Damn
Great track, one of my faves. Lorenza and Matt really add a lot to this version.
BANGER!!!!
"It don't hurt like it did(it hurts worse) who do I kid?" All time favorite Sheryl Crow lyrics.
Prime Sheryl. Got to see her that year at Wembley Arena with a good friend from Barcelona.
Even though she messed up the lyrics a bit, I still love her music...always makes me feel better! Rock on, Sheryl!
She wrote the song so there’s no messing up lyrics.
"WOW❗"😱❗ just "WOW‼" ...the first CD I ever owned was Sheryl Crow when I was 10 years old back in the 90's, eventually ended up living off of The Globe Sessions when I was a teenager🎸⭐ She Is What A TRUE Singer-Songwriter is ALL About. Fuck Trailer Swift! yes I said "trailer", Could NEVER Understand her appeal??? Count Trash... garbage like That Outta Be Incinerated🔥❗ LOVE & Adore Miss Crow's Talent & Very Authentic Work Ethic, back when True Artist Had To REALLY Suffer And WORK For their name & Time On The Radio📻 I'm now 33 & I was "never a kid/child" growing up due to having to raise myself & my siblings while our single mother was always working after the divorce. However I've learned to keep getting younger & this brings me back to my roots, especially after my husband asked for a divorce 3 months ago & lol he has Tattoos of The Sun & Moon, one on either side of his big toes. Lol & although I do think about him lovingly throughout everyday, this morning I woke up with that lyric in my head:🎶🎵 "I Don't Think Of You No More, Except In Between The Sun And Moon"🎶🎵🎸
This has ALWAYS been one of my top 2 or 3 songs of Sheryl's to see performed live because of the way they simply ROCK OUT at the end....The Globe Sessions was one of my favorite albums of the 90's, easily. I'm going to see Sheryl in concert this Friday night and I'm hoping to see a little bit of this when she plays some of her old but great tunes. Thanks for posting!
Just saw her last year in Portland Maine best concert I ever been to❤
Yerrrrrrrrr.....
CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC....
I remember the first time I heard this song I almost spit out the drink of water I just took when I heard the words "electric man sounds good today, maybe not but I'm trying hard".
She just has a way of tapping into that space inside me (and probably most people), where hurt, pain, longing, regret and loneliness exists. The music does it on its own, even without the lyrics. It's the same for songs like Difficult Kind and I Know Why. She's very very good at it. She took a lot of inspiration from songs like Ode to Billy Joe by Bobby Gentry, which has that sad, creepy, not quite right vibe to it.
Great song and Wow the guitar solo at the end was AWESOME
DAMN! This is a great rendition. Thanks.
I think I may be responsible for about 150 - 200 views on this :) It's an incredible perfomance, and yep the plectrum/pick throw at the end says it all!!
Wow, this version is spectacular and the Globe Sessions has to be my all-time favorite album...Could you please tell me from what concert is this video taken?
Wow. Just wow.
Totally rocks it out!!!! Love, love, love!
Riding into the Sun......Rebirth of Spirit & Appreciation of Life!
This great song makes a deep fried point about love which made life for all of us. Love when as the rappers put it is done proper is to help and heal not to hurt showing that no person should be alone as no one should be compatible with that. The movie that is the second opinion on this is Cast Away with Tom Hanks. To those who haven't seen this film I advise you all to see it 20 minutes ago. Being from New York City where about two thirds of the residents are single I think maybe that percentage could be lowered re:the aforesaid.
Love it...
Throw the plectrum over the shoulder. The guitar equivalent of mic drop. It says we're done here, that was the best of the best and one day people will queue up to agree.
good tune !!!
YEAH !!!
Great song
Nailed it!❤
she s so gooooood I love her to bit s .......................................love you sheryl thank you
uh good set

Come si chiama il musicista che canta da seconda voce?
Awesome
wow that was intense !!
wow
Damn.
yes!!!!
It don't hurt like it did; )
you forgot to mention Lorenza Ponce on violin and Matt Brubeck on cello
Loved your stuff .. Question though
Why is " I think a change so hard for me to sing and play , I love the sound of it , but it's a tough one for some reason !
Are you playing it in the right tuning and with the right chords?
Does anybody know the exact tabs she's playing here?
tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/sheryl_crow/it_dont_hurt_chords_563692
In all Sheryls songs I want to know who she is singing about/for. Is this song even about a personal experience?
Eric Clapton
Duh right? 😂
The unusual chord changes in this song showcase Sheryl's song writing ability. The whole Globe Sessions album seemed to be in a class of its own and was recorded at the peak of her creativity. Soak Up The Sun seemed a bit out of character compared to her earlier material.
Yeah, second half of the song just enters god mode…!
anyone know what key of harmonica she's playing here?
+SopranoSister B.
I figured it out, but thanks! I can always capo to the next fret and use my C for now. :)
I worked 24 Hours a Day and that's the reason I never going back on Twitter anymore

It's hurts worse, who do I kid?
I love this version. It's the number two song on my iPod. She messes up the moon is hanging like your hat line, but she messes up the "except for everyday or two" on the 2005 version. Maybe its a complicated story. This version has a simpler (better) violin. And her twang is the younger Sheryl here.
I could listen to this song everyday. And who do I kid?
I think it's fair to say Sheryl and the band attacked this song with no relent. My favorite Sheryl Crow song.
she totally messed up her lyrics 1:55. The second guitarist is so confused. It's my favorite line of the song.
Dewey brought me here.
This song is for Eric Clapton. Bad breakup.
I Did Jimi Hendrix close to This!
This song got me through my divorce.
@todd7416 .......lol
Eric Clapton is God
This song is about him.
y’know what they say ‘bout girls what play harmonica?
they gon’ look pretty silly-just like all harmonica players
Some people will say all sorts of stupid things.
Nope, don’t do it 😂
